Routes to central London

There are three main routes to central London from Heathrow Airport, via the M4 and A4, via the M4 and via the A40, which allows us to select the best and most accessible route into central London depending on what time your flight arrives in the UK, and according to the traffic conditions at the time.

Route 1, the M4 and A4 is the most direct of around 17 miles.  During non-rush hour periods of the day, the journey can take as little as 30 minutes.  However, if you are arriving at Heathrow Airport between 8.00am and 8.00pm, allow 45 minutes for your journey.

Route 2, the M4, is a little longer, at around 18 miles and outside the rush hour period, will take approximately 35 minutes.  From 8.00am to 8.00pm, the journey time will be longer at approximately 50 minutes.

Route 3, the A40 is the longest route of approximately 20 miles, and will take up to an hour between 8.00am and 8.00pm.  However, outside of these hours, the journey time is reduced to 35 minutes.
